This policy applies to PII Shield, a Zendesk app developed by ASA Labs.

What PII Shield does

PII Shield helps Zendesk teams detect and manage sensitive information that may appear in support tickets, comments, internal notes, and related support workflows.

Data access

The app may access Zendesk ticket content, comments, requester information, user metadata, organization information, tags, fields, and related ticket data as needed to detect sensitive information and apply configured actions.

Types of information detected

Depending on your configuration, PII Shield may detect information such as credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, bank details, phone numbers, email addresses, account identifiers, order identifiers, claim numbers, or other custom patterns defined by your Zendesk admins.

Data ownership & storage

Customer and ticket data remain your data. PII Shield is designed to work within Zendesk and use Zendesk data only as needed to provide detection, masking, tagging, routing, or audit-related functionality.

Data sharing

PII Shield does not sell customer data, use customer data for advertising, or share customer data with unauthorized third parties.

Detection and masking

When sensitive information is detected, PII Shield may apply configured actions such as masking values, adding ticket tags, creating internal notes, or helping route the ticket for review. The specific behavior depends on how your Zendesk admins configure the app.

AI and connected systems

PII Shield is intended to reduce unnecessary exposure of sensitive information before it is used in AI summaries, automations, integrations, reporting, or other connected workflows.

Security

The app is designed to limit unnecessary exposure of sensitive customer information and to support safer handling of customer data inside Zendesk workflows.
